On the last day of the Leadership Council meeting in Bratislava, Slovakia, EDYN Leadership Council members had the opportunity to meet with the President of Slovakia, Zuzana Čaputová. The meeting, held in the Presidential Palace, provided members the opportunity to directly speak with President Čaputová about their work and about the most prominent issues young people are facing in their respective countries.

President Čaputová expressed great admiration and gratitude for their public engagement and service and stressed the essential role of youth leadership in all efforts aimed at protecting democracy and fundamental human rights in Europe and beyond.

The meeting reflects EDYN’s remarkable trend of giving members a direct platform to meet with leaders and discuss issues affecting young people. Importantly, it also reflects how local leaders are recognizing the value of youth leadership. By meeting with leaders, EDYN members can find new avenues for impactful change and are further inspired to continue their efforts in improving youth inclusion in political processes. President Čaputová is a changemaker herself, being the first woman to hold the presidency and the youngest president in the history of Slovakia. Her leadership serves as an example to EDYN members as to what they can accomplish.
