CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Apply for EDYN’s Political Twinning trip to Brussels
Topic: Political Exchanges & Networking Events with High-Level EU Officials
Date: December 3 – 8, 2022
Location: Brussels, Belgium
Application deadline: Sunday, October 23, 23:59 CET
Eligibility: All members
Organized by: EDYN HQ
Who can apply:
- EDYN members who are active politicians (i.e., currently holding office, running for office, part of a political party, or part of the youth wing of a political party)
- EDYN members with a basic familiarity and understanding of the European Union, its institutions, affiliated NGOs, partner organisations, and main actors.
- EDYN members with C1-English level (or higher)
In order to apply candidate needs a fellow EDYN member from the same country chapter but belonging to an opposing political party/political organisation. Each of them needs to send a separate application in which they state who their fellow EDYN member is.Â
All selected candidates will be expected to actively participate in the networking events, Q&A sessions, conversations, and informal social events.
Out of the submitted applications, we will select 4 sets of pairs (8 participants in total) whose profiles will fit this opportunity the most.
Applicants will be selected by the end of October 2022 to allow for the necessary arrangements.
The Political Twinning trip is intended for EDYN members who seek an in-depth exploration and understanding of EU politics; relations between the EU and the US; Brussels’ institutions, its judiciary, and its policymaking structures, as well as the European Parliament’s electoral processes, political campaigns, and advisory dynamics. Visits to international organisations and embassies will also provide unique, in-person insights on Brussels’ external relations with Washington DC and other non-EU EDYN countries.
The activities will include visits, networking events, Q&A sessions, conversations, and informal social events with representatives from EU institutions, the European Commission, the European Parliament’s main political parties, youth organisations, think tanks, and NGOs.
The trip will include time for cultural endeavours, sightseeing, and social activities in Brussels.
The selected participants will also have the opportunity to share this week-long trip alongside 8 American delegates from the American Council of Young Political Leaders: the ACYPL has partnered with EDYN HQ on this project and will send 4 Democratic Party-affiliated delegates and 4 Republican Party-affiliated delegates.
Members will need to apply together with another fellow EDYN member from the same country chapter affiliated with an opposing political party/political organisation (e.g. coalition party vis-a-vis opposition party). This set of 2 applicants will need to fill out the application below separately stating the personal details of the “twin” so we can match the applications together. They are expected to demonstrate their desire to learn about the inner workings of the EU while being willing to create a safe space for respectful dialogue and the peaceful exchange of different political perspectives and experiences.
The call for applications ended on Sunday, October 23, 23:59 CET.
