Please note:
- The EDYN President is elected through a simple majority vote by all Ambassadors.
- In countries with a USAID presence, Country Chapters (members and ambassadors) elect their LC representative by a simple majority vote.
- In countries without a USAID presence, all members will vote to choose three LC representatives from a pool of non-USAID candidates.
We are pleased to announce EDYN’s Leadership Council and Presidential Elections! The nomination period starts on Monday, 11 November, and will be open until Sunday, 17 November. Please find a detailed timeline with key dates below:
Timeline for EDYN Presidential & Leadership Council Elections 2025:
- Nomination period (1 week): 11 – 17 November
- Campaigning period (2 weeks): 18 November – 1 December
- Election period (1 week): 2 – 8 December
- Voting Opens: 2 December
- Voting Closes: 8 December
- Fraud/violations reporting period: 3 days after the closing of votes.

Leadership Council Composition
The Leadership Council (LC) is composed of fourteen members: one President (not affiliated with any country chapter), ten representatives from USAID presence countries, and three representatives from non-USAID presence countries.
USAID presence countries (10 LC spots): Albania, Armenia, Belarus, BiH, Georgia, Kosovo, Moldova, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Ukraine.
Non-USAID pool of countries (3 LC spots): Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
Eligibility Criteria for EDYN President:
Candidates for the EDYN President position must meet the following criteria:
- Age between 18 and 32
- Strong written and verbal English language skills
- Citizenship and current resident of an EDYN member country
- Active political or civic engagement within their community
- Support the values of EDYN as defined in the 2019 Berlin Declaration and adherence to the Code of Conduct
- Only EDYN Ambassadors are eligible to run for EDYN President.
Nomination for EDYN President:
During the first week of the election cycle, known as the Nomination Period:
- EDYN Ambassadors may nominate other Ambassadors for the President position.
- Nominations should be submitted via email to the current Leadership Council ([email protected]), the Election Committee ([email protected]), and the EDYN HQ ([email protected]).
- After the nomination is submitted, the HQ will request each nominee to accept or reject the nomination within a specified timeframe.
Campaigning:
Once the Election Committee informs nominated candidates for President of their eligibility, candidates for President will have a two-week campaign period to seek support from EDYN Ambassadors. Additional rules for the Campaign Period will be specified by the Election Committee.
Election and Voting Procedure:
The EDYN President will be elected by Ambassadors through a simple majority vote conducted electronically.
Eligibility Criteria for EDYN Leadership Council (LC):
- Age between 18 and 32
- Strong written and verbal English language skills
- Citizenship and current resident of an EDYN membership country
- Active political or civic engagement within their community
- Support the values of EDYN as defined in the 2019 Berlin Declaration and adherence to the Code of Conduct
- Only current Ambassadors are eligible to run for a seat in the LC.
Nomination for LC members:
- USAID countries: Those Ambassadors who want to run for the LC should send an email expressing their intent to run for the Leadership Council seat to the Ambassadors of their Country Chapter (emails can be found here) and to EDYN HQ ([email protected]).
- Non-USAID countries: Ambassadors from non-USAID countries who want to run for the LC should nominate themselves by sending an email to the ambassadors of their Country Chapter (emails can be found here) and EDYN HQ ([email protected]). Non-USAID countries have the right to nominate one candidate per country through the internal voting process (simple majority). Nominees should confirm their nomination by providing a written statement.
Campaigning
Nominees shall have a two-week period to campaign for support from EDYN members. Additional rules for the Campaign Period will be specified by the Election Committee.
Election and Voting Procedure:
In USAID presence countries, following the campaign period, Country Chapters membership (both members and ambassadors) will elect their LC representative by a simple majority vote.
In non-USAID presence countries, all their memberships will vote to choose three LC representatives from the pool of non-USAID candidates. Each member can cast up to three votes to express their preference among the contested candidates.
Voting will be conducted electronically, with separate ballots for the election of Leadership Council Members and the President.
