European Democracy Youth Network hosted a live discussion in Twitter Spaces under the concept EDYN Radio: EU Integration Explained. The main focus of this series is Ukraine. The pilot episode hosted by Denys Ganzha dived into some interesting sessions regarding the EU integration of Ukraine. The guests were the Vice-President of the European Parliament Michal Šimečka and Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna.
The war in Ukraine opened a window of opportunity for the country to get a fast track to EU membership. Ukrainians have already proven that they are a part of the European family. The biggest beneficiaries of the process are the youth, as they would be the ones who will both contribute to the biggest part of Ukraine’s European integration, as well as benefit from Ukraine’s EU membership. The main aim of the EDYN Radio series is to build a bridge between Ukrainian youth and top decision-makers in the EU.
“We are calling for the European parliament to think big and act big. To inspire your institutions and your leaders of the government to put more pressure on the Russian Federation and to make sure that each of the governments and nations is doing their best to make sure that this war is stopped.”
- Olha Stefanishyna
“We need more ambitious and courageous decisions by the parliament and the council.”
- Michal Šimečka
It was also mentioned by the Deputy Prime Minister that, “The more instruments each of the governments and parliaments of these countries could apply to increase the cost of the Russian federation for this military aggression the faster the war will come to an end” as the members of the European Parliament have this liberty to think big and to act big.”
This project is done in partnership with the Council on Youth Affairs under the President of Ukraine.
