What is this project about?

The project aimed to organize meetings for the members of the EDYN Georgian Chapter and our friendly organizations with the diplomatic corps working in Georgia, in order to establish closer connections. About 50 young people attended the three meetings held within the project framework, with 20 of them being members of EDYN. The meetings included the following:

  • Meeting with the UN outreach coordinator, Sabine Makhli
  • Meeting with the Austrian Ambassador to Georgia, Thomas Mühlmann
  • Meeting with the American Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan

What impact did the project have?

During the meetings with representatives from UNICEF, UNFPA, UNHCR, and the US Ambassador to Georgia, the young leaders had the opportunity to share EDYN’s mission, discuss their visits to regions, future plans, and address current challenges. This knowledge can have a positive impact on their career trajectories by providing them with a nuanced understanding of democratic processes and positioning them as advocates for youth empowerment in their professional pursuits.

Furthermore, the meetings focused on future partnerships, allowing EDYN members to establish connections with key stakeholders in the diplomatic corps and development community. These connections can be advantageous for their future career prospects, as they gained exposure to potential professional opportunities and access to a wider network of individuals involved in European affairs.

What did the members learn from it?

By engaging in these discussions, EDYN members deepened their understanding of the democratic processes and challenges specific to their country. The participants expanded their knowledge of collaboration opportunities and learned about the processes and requirements involved in partnering with influential international organizations.

The project participants also received valuable insights into the role of youth in promoting democratic values and gained knowledge about potential avenues for economic development and empowerment. This engagement allowed them to learn about the work of esteemed UN agencies and understand their roles in addressing global issues. The meetings were particularly interesting as the participants deepened their knowledge about the structures of the European Union, the status of Georgia on the road to European integration, and the prerequisites for the implementation of the twelve recommendations.
