What is the project about?

In the Republic of North Macedonia, political polarization and limited youth participation in politics have been longstanding challenges. These issues have often hindered constructive dialogue and cooperation between different political youth wings, contributing to a fragmented political landscape and inhibiting the effective exchange of ideas and solutions. The resulting polarization can impede progress and hinder the development of inclusive policies that address the diverse needs of the population.

To address these concerns and foster a more collaborative and engaged political environment, a significant initiative was undertaken by the members of European Democracy Youth Network. The project centered on the creation and signing of a Declaration aimed at improving dialogue and cooperation between political youth wings in Republic of N. Macedonia. This initiative marked a significant departure from the norm, as it brought together more than 50 individuals representing diverse political parties, all committed to transcending divides and working towards a shared goal.

What was its goal?

The impact of signing the Declaration for reducing political polarization and increasing youth participation in politics on the local community has been profound. By transcending political differences and focusing on shared objectives, the project has set a precedent for constructive engagement that was previously unheard of. The willingness of youth members to come together and prioritize cooperation over division has inspired others within the political landscape and the broader community. It has demonstrated that collaborative efforts can lead to tangible benefits and promote a more harmonious political discourse.

What was the biggest achievement?

Through their participation in this initiative, members gained valuable insights into effective communication, negotiation, and compromise. They learned the importance of finding common ground and leveraging their shared goals to drive positive change. Moreover, the project highlighted the potential of youth in reshaping the political landscape, showing that their energy, idealism, and dedication can play a crucial role in bridging gaps and creating a more united society.

The Declaration to improve dialogue and cooperation among political youth wings in the Republic of North Macedonia represents a pivotal step towards reducing political polarization and enhancing youth participation in politics. The project’s success in bringing together individuals from different parties, its impact on the local community, and the lessons learned by its participants underline the potential of collaborative initiatives to reshape political dynamics and foster a more inclusive and effective democratic process.

In addition to the impactful steps already taken, our commitment to reducing political polarization and increasing youth participation in North Macedonian politics remains unwavering. We are excited to announce that we have a series of dynamic follow-up activities in the pipeline, designed to build upon the momentum generated by the initial declaration and further enhance its positive effects on our society.
