We are happy to announce that the EDYN Leadership Council and Presidential Elections are launching today, November 14! The nomination period starts today and will be open until Sunday, November 20.

Let us explain the process, timeline, rules, and procedures. These were developed by your representatives at the Leadership Council and in the Election Committee and are enshrined in the EDYN Charter 2022.

Timeline

  • November 14-20:  Nominations period
  • November 21-December 4: Campaigning period
  • December 5-11: Election period
  • December 12: Announcement of the results

Presidential Elections

Eligibility: current EDYN Ambassadors

Nomination: current EDYN Ambassadors can nominate other Ambassador(s) by sending an email with their nomination to Election Committee, HQ, and current LC members. They must put the nominee in that email’s copy (CC).

Campaigning: After being informed of their eligibility by the existing Election Committee, nominees shall have a two-week Campaign Period to win support among EDYN Ambassadors.

Voting: Following the Campaign Period, Ambassadors will vote over the course of a week to elect a President. The President will be determined by a simple majority vote. Voting will be conducted electronically, with separate ballots for the election of Leadership Council Members and President with oversight of NDI, IRI, and HQ.

Leadership Council Elections

Eligibility: current EDYN Ambassadors

Nomination: EDYN members and Ambassadors can nominate Ambassadors from their Country Chapter by sending email to the Election Committee, HQ, and current LC. They must put the nominee in that email’s copy (CC).

Campaigning: Nominees shall have a two-week period to campaign for support among EDYN Ambassadors. Additional rules for the Campaign Period are stipulated by the Election Committee.

Voting: Following the Campaign Period, Ambassadors will vote collectively to select a country/region representative from the list of nominees for every position on the LC by a simple majority vote. In case there are more candidates to represent one country/region, each Ambassador casts one vote to express his/her preference among the contested candidates. Voting will be conducted electronically, with separate ballots for the election of Leadership Council Members and President with oversight of NDI, IRI, and HQ.
